The lighthouse overlooks a stretch of rock strewn, turbulent sea on the most southerly tip of the British Isles. There are estimated to be 6,000 shipwrecks in this area known as the 'ship graveyard'.

The Leviathan created by Brian Fell is a distinctive sculpture overlooking the entrance to Sutton Harbour in Plymouth. The sculpture usually elicits a strong response from observers and is popularly referred to as the Plymouth Barbican Prawn by many locals.
